Accommodation

1. What are the different accommodation types at Alunan Resort?

Alunan Resort offers 18 individually designed double-storey Serenity Suites. Each spacious suite is furnished with floor-to-ceiling glass panels designed to capture the beauty of the vast ocean and lush rainforest; the second floor opens up to your very own private rooftop sun deck where hammocks beckon and sun loungers invite you to experience a world of relaxation. Choose from double, twin, triple, quad sharing and our 2-bedroom family suite.

2. Are the suites air-conditioned? Do they have ceiling fans?

All Serenity Suites are equipped with air conditioning and ceiling fans.

3. Do the suites have en-suite bathrooms?

All Serenity Suites come with modern, en-suite bathrooms (hot and cold showers are available)

4. Is there a safe in the suite?

We provide a digital safe in each Serenity Suite.

5. Are there mosquito nets in the suite?

There is no mosquito net in the suite. As this is a tropical island with lush vegetation, we would recommend that you use mosquito repellent whenever you are outdoors.

6. Is there internet access at the resort?

We offer complimentary  Wi-Fi internet access at our Resort Lobby area and at our Bayu Restaurant.

7. Is there room service in the resort?

Presently, we do not provide room service.

8. Is there a restaurant in the resort?

Savour all day dining while soaking up the ambience of the island at our Bayu Restaurant. A blend of mouth-watering Western and Malaysian favourites tempts your tastebuds with a rich variety of flavours.

9. Are there electrical power points and adapters in the suite?

Universal plug points are available in all suites and the electricity voltage is 220-240V. Should you need a universal adapter, please request from our Front Desk.

10. Can I smoke in the suite?

As we are a non-smoking resort, smoking is not permitted in the suite and on the rooftop sun deck on the second floor. We reserve the right and you hereby authorise us to charge your credit card for any damage (caused by smoking) incurred to your room or the resort during your stay (including without limitation specialist cleaning).

11. Is it safe to drink water from the tap?

The tap water in Malaysia is not suitable for drinking without proper filtration/processing. Complimentary bottled water is provided in all Serenity Suites.

12. Does the resort have wheelchair friendly accommodation?

At Alunan Resort, we endeavour to accommodate all your requests. Due to the design of our resort, we apologise that we are not able to provide wheelchair friendly accommodation.

13. Can children stay unaccompanied in the resort?

Due to the design of our resort, all children (a person under 12 years of age) staying at the resort must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times for their safety.

14. Does the suite rate include breakfast?

All our rates are inclusive of breakfast.

15. Are pets allowed?

We do not allow pets in our resort.

16. What is the check-in and check-out time?

Guests may check-in from 2.00 p.m. On the day of departure we kindly ask all guests to vacate their rooms by 11.00am. Late check-out after this time can be requested subject to availability and may attract additional charges at the discretion of the resort.

Booking and Payment

1. Do I need a credit card at the time of booking?

At the time of booking, full payment of your entire stay will be charged. We will take your credit card details and you authorise the use of this card for any sums that become owing to us.

2. Can I make a booking on behalf of a friend/family member but pay for it with my own credit card?

Yes you can and we accept the following methods of payment: credit cards: Visa and Mastercard via PayPal and via Bank Transfer (CIMB Bank).. Please take note that only your friend/family member will be allowed to check in and we will take his/her ID (for verification) and credit card details or cash deposit (refundable) at the time of check in.

3. How do I make an online booking via the website?

Go to www.alunanresort.com and click CHECK AVAILABILITY. Select your  Check-in and Check-out dates. (Note : minimum 2 nights stay is required). Key in the Promo Code (if any). Select Accommodation Type and Quantity of Room(s) required. Read the Room Details and Booking Policies. Click BOOK NOW.

Select Extras Booking if you require extra items such as Return Boat Transfers. Complete Guest and Payment Details. Select Payment Method. Click BOOK

4. How do I check if I have successfully made a booking?

You will receive a confirmation email which includes a booking reference number upon successful booking with full payment.

5. Can I check in if the booking is under someone else’s name?

No, only the person whose name and valid ID stated in the booking confirmation will be allowed to check in.

6. Do I have to print out my booking reservation?

It is advisable to print out your booking reservation for reference and easy check in at the resort.

7. Is there a minimal number of nights I must book?

Minimum 2 nights’ stay is required for every booking.

8. How do I cancel or change my booking?

Please email us at booking@alunanresort.com for any changes or cancellations. We kindly ask that you take a moment read our Terms & Conditions prior to making a booking.

 

9. Do I need a PayPal account to pay with my credit card through PayPal?

A PayPal account is not required when paying with your credit card via PayPal.

10. What is the best currency to bring and how much cash do I need?

The currency in Malaysia is Ringgit Malaysia. Please bring sufficient cash to pay for food and leisure activities as there is no ATM machine on the island. We accept the following credit cards at our Reception : Visa and Mastercard.

11. Where is the nearest ATM machine?

There is no ATM machine on Perhentian Islands. We recommend that you obtain sufficient cash from the ATM machines at Kota Bharu Airport or at Jerteh which is 20 minutes away by car or taxi from Kuala Besut Jetty.

Transportation

1. Where is Alunan Resort?

Alunan Resort is located on a quiet, intimate stretch of Petani Beach, on Pulau Perhentian Kecil (Small Perhentian Island), off East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

2. How do I get to Kuala Besut jetty from Kota Bharu airport? How long does the journey take?

Kota Bharu is just a 60-minute drive by taxi to Kuala Besut Jetty (for boat transfer to Perhentian Islands). Please see Getting There for more informaton.

3. What time do I need to arrive at Kuala Besut jetty to catch the boat to the resort?

Please be at the Kuala Besut jetty 15 minutes before your boat departure time.

4. Can I park my car at Kuala Besut jetty?

Yes, parking is available at Kuala Besut jetty.

5. How are the transfers organised?

For your convenience, upon booking, Alunan Resort can help to arrange for boat transfers from Kuala Besut Jetty to our resort and back. Please contact us at booking@alunanresort.com

Others

1. What language is spoken in the resort and on the island?

English and Bahasa Malaysia (the national language of Malaysia) are spoken at Alunan Resort and Perhentian Islands.

2. Are there any medical facilities on the island?

There is a government health clinic in a village close to Alunan Resort.

3. What should I pack?

Pack for a relaxing vacation in a warm-weather island resort: one or two bathing suits, shorts and t-shirts; perhaps a smart casual outfit or summer dress. Make sure to bring a sun hat, sunglasses, beach wear, flip-flops or sandals, mosquito repellent and sun block. A cardigan or wrap may be needed for air-conditioned areas.

4. Can I bring my own alcohol?

Yes. Please take note that there is a RM10 corkage fee for each bottle of wine and RM20 for each bottle of liquor/liqueur when consumed at our Bayu Restaurant.

5. What is the weather like on the island?

The Perhentian Islands have a year round hot tropical climate (average temperature : 30 degrees Celsius) with occasional rain.

6. When is the wet season?

Precipitation is highest from November to January due to the North-east Monsoon. During this season, the sea is very rough and almost all resorts are closed and there are no boat services. Alunan Resort will be closed during this period.

7. Does Alunan Resort cater for special dietary needs?

Yes. Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements at the time of booking.

8. Does Alunan Resort have a spa?

We do not have a spa at the moment.

9. How safe is the swimming and snorkelling at the beach?

Our beach is safe for swimming and snorkelling at your own risk as there is no lifeguard on the beach. Please wear booties (which can be obtained from our resort and is subject to availability) or reef shoes to protect your feet against rocks and coral.
